However, because moisture can escape from the wood through the varnish, the wood resists rotting and the varnish is less likely to blister or crack. Circa 1850 DEX exterior varnish incorporates transparent absorbers to screen out UV rays and inhibit the graying and fading effects of the sun. A great fungicide and a mildewcide increase product performance.
