- PAL shall be made of polycarbonate, which qualifies as self-extinguishing by the ASTM D-635 test
- PAL-CUV composition shall effectively resist UV light emission because of the selective transmittance qualities which filter out UV rays from 0 to 385 nanometers
- End caps are made of snug fitting, heat resistant plastic and the caps will hold the lamps in place even if broken and may prevent the tubes from falling
- Heat sink screens are used with high-output lamps. HO, VHO and PG lamps create excessive heat at the ends of the lamp
- The open metal mesh spreads excess heat towards the center of the lamp, eliminating deterioration of the plastic sleeve
